What is the Enneagram?
Enneagram (pronounced "Any-a-gram") means "9 points" in Greek, as it is made up of 9 unique personality profiles. The Enneagram is an ancient tool that identifies one's primary personality style with its particular gifts and challenges to Christian maturity. It distinguishes the traits of one's
(who we are created to be as bearers of Christ's image) from one's
(who we want to be or who we want others to think we are), and it describes the primary way one engages relationships. It offers ways one can cultivate healthy relational interaction with God and with others. You may be familiar with other diagnostic tools such as MMPI, Meyers/Briggs, DISC, etc. The Enneagram is quite distinct in its approach as it illuminates not only gift(virtue) of each type but the dark underbelly (vice) that accompanies that particular gift. It is a great help in counseling, spiritual direction, and organizational/team development.
Style 1: The Good Person (Reformer)
Style 2: The Loving Person (Helper)
Style 3: The Effective Person (Achiever)
Style 4: The Original Person (Individualist)
Style 5: The Wise Person (Investigator)
Style 6: The Loyal Person (Questioner)
Style 7: The Joyful Person (Enthusiast)
Style 8: The Powerful Person (Challenger)
Style 9: The Peaceful Person (Peacemaker)
Whether you are brand new to the Enneagram or you think you've already identified your type, this workshop will be rich with insight about how God has uniquely created you. Each participant will complete a personal profile in advance and have their own report in front of them as we progress through the workshop. Don't stop at identifying your type! Reducing the complex soul that you are to be summarily defined by a number is short-sighted and borderline sacrilegious. There are profound insights to be mined in your specific profile that go beyond your primary type's number. This workshop will include biblical/theological reflections, small group discussions, and interaction with your Enneagram profile. Upon registering for this workshop, you will receive instructions and a personal test code to take an online Enneagram assessment (WEPSS) in preparation for the workshop.
A word of caution:
There is a broad spectrum of junk on the Internet related to the Enneagram: some of it substandard in quality (poor validity) and some of it downright sketchy (questionable, new-age, dark). The profile we will use together is very solid both in validity and theology. Stick with a reliable source coupled with a Christ-centered emphasis in the facilitation. Don't trust any of the "quick, free" options out there. Most are inaccurate and will only add fog to your self-discovery process. Finally, if you think you already know your type from reading a book or talking to a friend, hold that very loosely as you take the online profile with fresh introspection. It is not uncommon to misdiagnose ourselves by clinging to something we've read about the Enneagram or being mislabeled by someone's perception of us. The best and most accurate way to assess our type is through the use of a validated instrument and even that will only scratch the surface of the beauty, wonder, and complexity of your human soul (after all, you are made in the image of Almighty God!).
If you are brand new to the Enneagram, this helpful

The purpose of this workshop is explore one's own Enneagram type. This is not a certification to administer the Enneagram for others.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
—Psalm 139: 13-16
