Hearing God in the Age of Distraction
Living today in the Age of Information (or alternatively, the Age of Distraction), new information is instantly accessible to us with the click of a mouse or a tap of the finger. At all hours of the day, we are bombarded with email and text messages, Facebook and Twitter feeds, TV programs and advertisements, or the World Wide Web. With so much clamoring for our attention, hearing becomes a great challenge, whether are are trying to listen well to others, to ourselves, or to God. If you can relate to this, consider setting aside a full day to unplug and be renewed at Leadership Transformation's next Soul Care Retreat on April 30, 2016.
You've probably heard of taking a "mental health day" to renew the body and slow down the whirlwind of the mind. On this retreat we invite you to explore the value of a "
health day" specifically designed to renew your soul. Brief segments of the day will be spent introducing you to spiritual formation topics and practices — but there will also be blocks of time dedicated to silence, solitude, prayer, and reflection. Step out of your distracted life for a day and explore renewal for your soul.
What to bring
: Bible, journal, and a pen. All other materials will be included.
What not to bring:
Cell phone, laptop, iPod, or anything else that will be a distraction or barrier to getting the most out of your silence/solitude experience.
Saturday, April 30th, 8:30AM - 4:30PM
(Lunch is provided)
Cenacle Retreat House
420 North Kirkwood Rd
Houston, TX , 77079
"The LTi Soul Care Retreat was the antithesis of the busy life the world is always calling me to. I slowed down. I re-oriented. I listened. And in the midst of taking that time for my own soul, I found my equilibrium again. I could hear God again. LTi does a beautiful time of guiding and then helping to create the space for those deep breaths wherein we are able to let God do his good, slow and beautiful work in our lives.”
"When I arrived at the LTi soul care retreat, I was physically and mentally drained, and unprepared for a deep spiritual encounter. Yet God met me where I was and I felt the freedom to worship, rest (even take a nap or two), eat, and just be with Him. When I think back on that day I am grateful for God's great love for me in that He worked things out so that we could spend a special day together."
"My soul felt pampered at the LTi soul care retreat. I appreciated that the retreat was guided by LTi staff who gave us resources on how to begin caring for our soul. The grounds were beautiful which really helped me to relax, rest, and enjoy time with my Savior and my soul."
*Note: Space is limited to 40 people and will be filled on first-come first-serve basis.
